How to activate the "starved" lithium battery?

Many people have bad habits. They often leave the batteries of electric vehicles at home without turning off the air switch, and do not ride for several months. A few months later, when I came back to ride, I found that the car had no power and could not be charged. When the charger is plugged in, the light is always green, even if it is plugged in for 24 hours, because the battery voltage is too low and the difference between the output voltage of the charger and the battery voltage is too large, the charger cannot flush electricity into the battery.

This is what we usually call the "starving" of the battery. The voltage of this kind of battery block battery is generally only about 5.6V, not more than 6V. For such batteries, most of them are replaced. However, it is a pity to replace a group of batteries for hundreds of times, especially batteries that have just passed the warranty.

Here are five better ways to save most of these "starving" batteries. Note that most of them are not 100%.

1、 Tandem method. A 12 volt battery with normal voltage is connected in series with the whole battery. For example, if the original vehicle is a 48V-20AH battery, we will connect another 12V-20AH battery in series. A fully charged 12V battery has a voltage of about 13V. After being connected in series, the voltage of the whole battery can be increased, and then the battery can be charged with its original charger. In this way, the battery can be charged. After the charger is plugged in, the charger is red. At this time, the battery can be charged. When the charger turns green, remove the battery connected in series. Then charge it normally.

2、 Parallel connection method. This method is a little more trouble. For example, the vehicle was originally a 48V-20AH battery, and we connected another set of 48V-20AH batteries in parallel. It is known that the voltage in parallel circuit is equal everywhere, and the high voltage terminal will flow into the low voltage terminal. This method is also used by many battery dealers to detect batteries that have no electricity at all. Then charging can also achieve the purpose of charging. The principle is similar to that of a battery connected in series. It also increases the voltage of the whole group.

3、 Low voltage charging method. Use a smaller charger for charging. For example, for a group of 60V-20AH batteries, we use a 48V-20AH charger for charging. In most cases, it can also be filled in. The principle is similar to the first one. The charging voltage is closer to the voltage at both ends of the battery.

4、 Single battery charging method. Charging a single battery with a 12V motorcycle charger can activate the battery, but this charging is relatively slow. Generally, it takes more than 7 hours to charge, and the battery voltage will slowly rise to about 12V. If it takes a long time to charge all the single modules.

5、 Special charger method. The Tianneng Charger can automatically identify the battery voltage. No matter how much voltage a group of batteries has, it can automatically identify the voltage and charge it. For example, the original car has a 60V-20AH battery, but now it has less than 30V, so it can still charge it. With the increase of voltage, the battery will be fully adapted to the higher voltage and then charged. Tailing, Lujia Electric Vehicle and Jinpeng Tricycle have been equipped with chargers of this brand.

In addition, how to activate the "starved" lithium battery when popularized? Laptop battery or mobile phone battery

Battery activation is called "power ruler calibration" on Lenovo power management software. When Everest is used to detect the power supply on the PC, there is a "design capacity" followed by "full charging capacity". If the two values are the same, Then you will see that the "battery loss" item below is 0%. Generally speaking, the "full charging capacity" of the battery that has just left the factory or has been placed for a long time without timely maintenance will be less than the "design capacity". At this time, you will see that the battery loss is 1%. That means the battery is not "fully charged", and we need to "fully charge and discharge" (charging for 12 hours or more after full discharge) to fully "develop" the "potential" of the battery 。 This complete charging and discharging process is called "activating the battery". Lenovo Thinkpad and other power management software have a "power ruler calibration" function similar in principle.

Personally, I think some old technology batteries, such as NiMH, need to be activated. Lithium battery theory requires intensification because a protective layer of SEI needs to be formed on the negative electrode. But this process has actually been completed in the production test phase. Personally, I think consumers' misconceptions about batteries cause such services.

The battery of your mobile phone is "hungry" and cannot be charged when the phone is turned on, so it needs to be activated! First of all, the so-called starvation is the phenomenon that the battery cannot be recharged when the battery has been out of power or the power is very low. Then there are two ways to activate. First, you can activate it after 20 minutes of universal charging. Second, the mobile phone repair shop has a professional power supply with a slightly higher voltage, such as a 12 volt power supply, to activate it. Specifically, place the positive and negative poles of the power supply on the positive and negative poles of the battery for tens of seconds or even minutes to power it up and get it through! Finally, after activation, you can use direct charging as before. Whether it will have a significant impact on the service life is still unknown.

Charge with the instrument. (If the above methods are not effective and the battery is free of failure, you need to use a 'regulated power supply' to activate it. The black line is connected to the battery cathode, and the red line is connected to the battery cathode. The charging voltage reaches 3.8V.) It is unnecessary to use the device with lithium battery for the first time without charging for 12 hours!
